It's not often that the gospel sounds as pure as it does on this album of traditional carols, although it opens with a very special piece, the deeply intense "Mother of Love". Inspired by Maurice Gibb, this was the first new Robin Gibb composition to be published since his twin brother passed away, and is stylistically reminiscent of the days when Robin had his first big solo hit with "Saved By The Bell" back in 1969. "My Favourite Christmas Carols" draws the listener in with some compelling vocal performances, from traditional carols such as "Away in a Manger" and "Oh Come All Ye Faithful", to the contemporised "The First Noel" and superb "Mother of Love", which Robin wrote for all the mothers in the world.

With a song writing pedigree as distinguished as Robin's it's unusual for him to cover other writers' material, but if he does, rest assured he makes it sound exceptional. This soulful set was produced by Deacon Smith and returned Robin to the upper regions of the German album charts. UK hit single "Please", although written as a love song, was particularly poignant as its release unavoidably coincided with the passing of Robin's twin brother Maurice. The album also featured a remake of The Bee Gees' "Wish You Were Here", and a tribute to Roy Orbison by way of "Love Hurts". "Magnet" is a contemporary, stylish R&B recording, most notable for its outstanding vocal performances throughout.

"Walls Have Eyes", was produced together with Atlantic veteran Tom Dowd. It was a melodic pop record fitting in well with the trends of the time and remains the favourite Robin Gibb solo CD of many fans. The album featured several captivating tracks including the single "Like A Fool", power-ballad "Gone with The Wind" and "You Don’t Say Us Anymore". Another single from the album, "Toys", was an excellently crafted recording, which pained vocals and restrained production perfectly captured the atmosphere of the song's mysterious, haunting lyric.

"Secret Agent" was co-produced by Mark Ligget and Chris Barbosa who had a big hit with Shannon's "Let the Music Play". This album had a very different sound than its predecessors, with story lines reflecting street music. The first single from the album, the catchy "Boys (Do Fall in Love)", was a strong, fresh sounding record with a tongue-in-cheek lyric, and it deservedly cracked the Top 40 in the USA and was a hit in Germany. The title track was a great contemporary dance record and the dub mix was a firm favourite on weekend radio in Europe.

Robin's second solo set "How Old Are You?" was co-written and co-produced with twin brother Maurice. The album's lead single "Juliet" had everything to make it a hit including a great video to accompany the song's story-line, and reached the number one spot in Germany, Switzerland, Italy and the Euro-chart. The album produced two more hit singles, "Another Lonely Night in New York" and the title track.

"Robin's Reign" also included the European hit single "August October".
